Colour, Culture, and Connection: The K-Mix Reconciliation Mural is Complete!

Over the past few months, our new rubber mixing facility in Kwinana has been transformed - not just structurally, but visually. The completion of the K-Mix Reconciliation Mural marks a powerful moment for Fenner Conveyors and the wider One Michelin Group Australia (OMGA) team. It’s more than a mural. It’s a statement of respect, reconciliation, and community.

A Public Artwork with Purpose

Stretching over 900m² and rising more than 30 metres high, the mural is a vibrant and engaging piece of public art that now defines the southern elevation of our Kwinana site. But its impact goes far beyond aesthetics. This artwork is a cultural landmark - educational, inclusive, and connected to Noongar culture.

Installed in a visually accessible location, the mural invites local workers and the broader Kwinana community to engage with the story it tells. Acknowledgement information about the artists and the artwork’s connection to Noongar culture, fostering understanding and pride in place. As the mural took shape, local workers stopped by to ask questions and share their excitement. It’s already creating a sense of vibrancy and connection to the land.

Collaboration at the Heart

This project was made possible through meaningful collaboration between Fenner Conveyors, lead Indigenous artists Brenda Mau and Harley Richards and the City of Kwinana. Guided by public art consultant Art Theory, the mural was developed in alignment with the City of Kwinana’s Public Art Masterplan and Policy, and with cultural consultation from Traditional Custodians of the Gnaala Karla Booja region.

Consultation was central to the process. Fenner moved with deep respect and intentionality, engaging Elders to ensure cultural integrity and bring through Noongar elements throughout the piece.

The K-Mix mural stands as a daily reminder for employees and the local community of the importance of reconciliation and moving towards a more diverse and inclusive future for all. The piece embodies a commitment to truth-telling, cultural respect, and community engagement. From the outset, the project aimed to amplify First Nations voices and foster connection through storytelling and creativity.

We invite everyone - local workers, community members, and visitors - to come and see the mural as a celebration of colour, culture, and connection.
