Conveyor Belt Turning Frames
Belle Banne turning frames are a pivotal part of a successful belt change-out especially in locations where restricted geography is an issue. In the 8500m changeout pictured below, our turning frame design cut down a 120 hour job to just 68 hours.
The freedom and flexibility to redirect belts around cumbersome terrain and existing structures reduces situations where sites would otherwise have to use clumsy, unsafe and slow manual handling techniques to move belts.
We’ve drawn from over a decade of extensive experience at sites across Australia to evolve and finetune our design so it is safer, stronger and more versatile for a wider range of applications.
Engineered and built to outlast our turning frames are designed utilising computer modelling, Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and a manufacturing process exceeding a multitude of rigorous standards:
AS3990 - Mechanical equipment – steelwork
AS1554.1 - Structural steel welding – welding of steel structures
AS/NZS 3000:2007 - Electrical installations (known as the Australia/New Zealand wiring rules)
AS2671 - Hydraulic fluid power - general requirements for systems
AS1252 - High strength steel bolts with associated nuts and washers for structural engineering

Frequently Asked Questions
Turning frames are commonly used during:
- Conveyor belt installation
- Belt changeouts
- Belt relaying or repositioning
They are particularly useful when belt orientation needs to be adjusted before final installation onto the conveyor system.
Turning frames provide several operational and safety benefits:
- Controlled and safe rotation of heavy conveyor belts
- Reduced risk of belt damage such as twisting or creasing
- Improved efficiency during installation and maintenance
- Reduced manual handling requirements
Yes. Turning frames can be engineered to suit:
- Belt specifications (width, thickness, construction)
- Site layout and space constraints
- Integration with other belt handling equipment
- Operating environments, including mining and heavy industrial sites
Turning frames are typically used as part of a complete belt handling system and can be integrated with:
- Belt winders
- Belt clamps
- Belt pullers
- Flaking stations
This allows for a coordinated and efficient belt installation or maintenance process.
Turning frames improve safety by:
- Eliminating the need for manual belt rotation
- Providing controlled handling of heavy belt sections
- Reducing the risk of injury and equipment damage
