Far West Hub Bigge Overland Project

Download the Case Study

CPS designed and manufactured idler assembly rollers and frames for the FMG Far West Hub CV10 relocatable overland conveyor system, located in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.

The modular conveyor system was designed to replace long haulage routes by connecting a relocatable crushing plant with the existing mine site operations.

"This modular relocatable conveyor system is used to replace long haulage services and as a result provides our client with lower energy consumption, a higher operational capacity and at a lower operational cost.” - Travis Lewis

The Solution

The CPS engineered design had to account for complex curves throughout the length of the conveyor system.

This included over 5,000 side guide roller assemblies used to assist with aligning the conveyor belt over challenging terrain.

Frame fabrication tolerances of +-1mm provides accurate modular fitment on site and combined with light weight rollers will benefit relocation practices long into the future.

With summer ambient temperatures fluctuating between 5-50⁰C the CPS roller design, bearing and lubrication selection was critical in providing a reliable product that allows for significant thermal expansion.

Supporting local economy, all of the CPS components were designed and fabricated locally in Western Australia and supplied over a 13 week rapid supply schedule.
