Our team are contracted to provide ongoing support to a major coal mine in Queensland. As part of this support, we recently completed a massive number of lap splices in a comparitively short amount of time.
The Challenge
The Fenner Conveyors team pride ourselves on our ability to design, manufacture, maintain and support complete conveyor solutions, but a foundation of our capabilities has always been belt splicing. This expertise was recently put to the test with a major splicing campaign in Queensland, requiring 42 splices over 17 days.
The Solution
As this shutdown was pre-planned, our on-site team had time to prepare and scope for the campaign, setting up an area for it and preparing new equipment in advance of the campaign. While it was initially expected that the team would be pressed to complete all required splices within the shutdown timeline, the team were able to finish the works well within schedule, injury and incident free.
The Results
Multiple audits were conducted by the client during the process, with it being repeatedly mentioned how orderly and tidy the splicing area was. Happy with the results, the client looks forward to continuing to work with us on the service front moving forward.
